Putting Something Off Is Still Running From God

Running From God

It’s the beginning of the day, and you’re already looking forward to the end. The tasks ahead seem insurmountable. You can’t see what awaits you between now and then, but it’s likely to include yesterday’s leftovers. You take a deep breath, whisper a prayer, and take off running. At times you are a lonely runner.

You know the course. The One who sets it waits for you at the finish. In a way that only God can make it happen, He who waits for you is also with you, providing strength when you think you don’t have what it takes to go on.

You catch your breath and wonder:

  • Does anyone appreciate me?
  • Are the things I’m doing making a difference?
  • Will my family be better because of them?
  • Am I making an impact for the kingdom?

Self-reflection seems like a luxury. You press on.

Keep On, Keeping On

It’s the race of your life. You run with power and grace. Your eyes are on the finish line. His eyes meet your eyes. Does anyone appreciate you?  God does. His Son has gone before you and now stands with open arms, awaiting your embrace. Pace yourself as you draw near to His presence. Then sprint to the end!
